The British Scooter Rallies Association National Scooter Rallies for 2006 are as follows;

As you can see the meeting produced a couple of changes to last years calendar. First of all the re introduction of Morecambe Bay at Easter for one year.. Followed by a promised change of venue for every subsequent Easter by the organisers vfm*

There was much talk and heated debate about change of venues ,searching for new places for rallies etc... Everyone acknowledged the great difficulty in finding new venues ... Trying to compete with corporations who book years in advance.. Just trying to find somewhere new that fits National Criteria, on such a small Island, on which most of us have been riding for twenty plus years is very difficult.... The other side to the argument was that the most successful events in the UK are the well established ones, that hav'nt changed for years..... The general consensus was that although there is a need for change, it has to be built around a solid backbone of longlasting established events. Such as the Isle of Wight and Bridlington etc...

The issue of Kelso and Skegness on whitsun bankholiday was discussed. As it has been for the last couple of years now, with no compromise..... This year was different.
The general opinion of the meeting was that although Kelso was a great event, if it wishes to have National status, it has to be moved from a English bank holiday weekend..... Whitsun is not a Scottish bankholiday, the Scots go home on sunday. An ideal time for a Scottish National, the committee thought, would be the beginning of August on a normal weekend...This is entirely up to the Scots no 1's but has the full backing and support of the BSRA. Including, during the debate, confirming that Kelso showground  had weekends available throughout the year.... It seemed only fair that national dates should not clash and that serious roadgoing Scooterists should be able to travel the length and breadth of this country to all BSRA Nationals..

Another new event was the introduction of Whitby as a national in Summer with rideouts.. Shows ....Proper Campsite etc
Cleethorpes was rested from the BSRA calendar  although it will still take place as a club event.....
The weekend  of  August 5th was suggested as a possible for a Scottish National...... TBC.
The meeting closed with a general discussion about the threat of leisure companys  taking over our scene. The ever growing threat of No win No Fee cases being taken out on individual scooterists, and scooter clubs in these dark days of U.S. style dog eat dog litigation, and the very important need to have proper public liability insurance to protect those who are genuinely hurt due to no fault of their own.

A recap of the this years scene showed that numbers at rallies was still on the up, and that the scene in the uk was thriving, right down to grass roots events, in every region of the country..

Stricter controls on children at all National Events including some which will become adult only....
Stricter control on cars attending scooter rally campsites......
